Five things that make me happy…

I can find happiness in almost anything if I put my mind to it. Unfortunately, I am tuned to always search out the worst case scenarios.

If the questions was about people the answer is easy, my family and friends make me happy. But when I am on my own there are few things that can bring a smile to my face-

  1. Writing – Always close to my heart. My venting option when I have no shoulders to rely on. My most cherished companion, the keeper of my darkest secrets.
  2. Drawing – Stress buster. No matter whatever the situation when I need to calm myself down all I need is a pencil and paper and the world just slows down.
  3. Singing- Well, music makes most people happy. I don’t really think this needs an explanation.
  4. Reading – The gateway to the worlds of imaginations. The world of books are so fascinating. Anything is possible and I think even today even after I am an adult I still believe in the possibility of magic because of the many books I have read.
  5. My stationery collection – As an avid stationary collector, seeing the different items I have collected over the years definitely makes me happy.

Useful Skills

Growing up, I always try to contemplate the purpose of all the subjects we had in school. I ended up concluding that there was no real purpose.

However, each class did teach me something. Languages taught me how to communicate, Sciences taught me how things work, Maths taught me how to… well… add up things. I could go on about it.

However, leaving the typical subject we learn in the classroom. There was something called skills classes that we were taught. In that class, we were taught how to how to attend/take interviews, give presentations, dress up formally, dinner etiquettes and believe or not make up!

At the time it was taught I found it to be boring, but now that I am actually working, It really makes me realize how small things can make a huge impact!

Letting Go!

I am not a person who can easily forget things. Worse than that, I keep reliving the mostly horrible moments of my life over and over again.

I always thought that I am not good at moving on from things when it comes to others. Carrying the weight of all that pain and hurt was just beyond anything I have ever known. I had to break down completely after which I realized that letting go was the only option I had to move on.

And my word! The first time I just let myself be was just life altering! I still have a problem with letting go. But I have learnt to let go of little things. There are always going to be something that I cannot control and that is okay!

Besides having absolute control over your destiny is overrated! 🙂

Exercise of the Mind

Given that I am generally a very lazy person, I do not do much of physical exercise.

The one thing I love doing is exercising my mind! I love learning new things! Learning something new always makes me happy and excited. Now, let’s be completely honest, the excitement is there in the initial days and usually tappers down after that, but nonetheless, I prefer it to exercising!

Whenever I do exercise, I prefer to dance. And no, I am not a good dancer. I wish I were but I am not. I did go for dance classes for 6 years but all I can do is be a background dancer. I have no sort of aura a dancer should have. On the other hand, using it as a means to add some sort of activity in my life seems like a good option.

Harry Potter

I think the Harry Potter books was an unexpected series. It opened people to a world of magic! I mean the concept of a school of magic, a parallel world existing where magic exists, I especially love how they intertwined the “normie” world with the magical world. It is truly amazing!

As a child, the world of imagination just got a whole lot bigger. And I am aware there were more amazing magical books that were published over the years. But the Harry Potter series will always hold a special place in my heart and yes, whenever I get a chance, I dive right back into the magical world of Hogwarts.

Merlin

Okay let’s be real! I did not read the book I instead watched the TV series.

I totally loved the way the actor has portrayed the character of Merlin. I loved the love hate relationship between him and the character King Arthur. But more importantly, I love Merlin’s journey to discover his Magic.

Merlin is stated to be the greatest magician of all time. Just imagine! To be so powerful! To be able to make everything in the world better. Hmm.. come to think of it I would not like being the one with the ultimate power. I mean, it is said that power corrupts and I think I would easily go to the dark side.

If I could be Merlin without falling prey to the dark side of the magic that would be the character I want to be.

Dog vs. Python

I am a dog person hands down! They are the best kind of companion. My dog always makes my day better. He is a crazy pup on usual days but when I am sad, he quietly crawls into my lap and looks up at my face. I mean I don’t show love like other dog owners do. No fancy spa, or special attention but no matter what, he wags his tail when he sees me like I am the best person in the world.

On the flip side, I am terrified and disgusted of snakes. I very effectively avoid the snake display at zoos cause I just cannot imagine seeing them. Pretty obvious with my current feeling any sort of snake as a pet would be my worst nightmare! Kudos to the people who can even learn to love a snake unfortunately, I don’t think I will ever have the courage they have!

Panda Caretaker!

I know I could probably say something more meaningful. But from the numerous videos seen online being a panda caretaker seem fun!

I know every job has its down side but the upside seems too good to focus on the bad. I mean just look at the videos. I mean seeing at how clumsy they are it is truly a wonder how they survive.

I think anyone who love to hug them! They are so cute and if you think its just when they are small, you are mistaken because even full grown they can be a menance!

Magic on Ice

My knowledge of sports are limited but Ice skating/ Figure skating always will be my number 1 favorite sport.

Anyone who sees it can truly see the magic the performers make on ice. One day I too will learn to skate on ice. Well, maybe not the artistic way that they do but I might learn enough to not fall flat on my face every time I step on ice.

I have answered a similar question on an earlier prompt and my answer has remained the same.

Make the World a Better Place

Everybody at some point think of something that they would like to about their community. I don’t like that fact that some of us get to live a comfortable life while others struggle.

If I knew how to, I would like to make emergency medicine free for those who cannot afford it. Maybe, make schools that have free education with lodging for kids. Maybe make counselling mandatory for kids so that they get help even when they think they do not need help.

Maybe make it required to have green zone in every house so we have have our very own trees. Maybe a community can be responsible for a particular public space so that it is maintained well.

Maybe safe homes for women or men who need a little extra help to stand back on their feet.

I wish I could say that addictive substance needs to be completed irradicated but I am aware that we still need it for people who have medical issues that cannot be handled any other way.

This maybe something naive, but a daycare with grandpas and grandmas as the monitors for the kids. Of course there needs to be trained staff and young people to help with the more hard tasks. But, I think having something like this would give the kids the love from elders and give the elders the joy of seeing kids. Ah well! Maybe too far fetched.
