Leaving Toxic people is Good

Forever, I had think innate need to hold on to people. I felt that I needed to be there for them. Little did I know how much that would affect me.

I was taught that you do not abandon people when they are in a bad situation. For a long long time I maintained that and fought hard. I kept thinking to myself that the person that I was standing by would realize my commitment to them and reciprocate at least a portion of it.

But like they say, the stronger you try to hold on to things the more it hurts. I kept hoping and waiting and at the end of the day all I got was humiliation and loneliness.

It hurts like crazy when you have to walk away from someone and you regret it immediately. But if you hold true and stay away, it almost like a shroud slips away and everything seems a much better.

You finally realize how easy breathing can be when you not burdened by the overthinking. Slowly and gradually you realize and accept that sometimes walking away is really the best thing you did for yourself.

A Volcano

I know there are a few inactive volcanos in the world which would cause no harm to humans. However, why take a chance!

All the science experiments aside, the thought of molten lava and poisonous smoke spewing out from a crevice in the earth, it terrifies me.

I have a strong feeling that I would not be able to out run it. So no thank you! I am staying as far a possible from such situations.

Seldom Recognized

My family always does things for me. I think most families do, but it tends to go unnoticed because we take things for granted.

As a kid, I remember my sister not opening a packet of chips or a bar of chocolate till I was home. My father carried me on his shoulders despite being exhausted himself. My mother gave me kisses before she left for work even when she thought I was sleeping.

After growing up, I remember my sister standing up to my father when he said hurtful things to me. My mother gave a warm huge when I was going through a bout of depression (even though she did not know it. At least I think she didn’t). My father buys me spicy food when I am down with cold even when I don’t ask for it.

So there you go, I really can’t say just one isolated incident, there are multiple scenarios scattered over my whole lifetime. Family can be a handful at times but I am thankful that I have them.

Where there is Good Food

I am not one to understand that much about food. Weird as it may sound, food is complicated for me.

I do not understand the nuances of the various flavors and their balance. For me if the food is not bad it is good. As such, I have not developed any particular interest to any sort of restaurant. As long as the food tastes good I would like the restaurant.

The one thing I do understand when deciding if a restaurant is good is if the atmosphere is comfy and does not put me on edge. I love when there are booths which give a little privacy and comfy chairs.

So in conclusion, give me a comfortable setting and good food I will rate the restaurant as a favorite. 🙂

Five things that make me happy…

I can find happiness in almost anything if I put my mind to it. Unfortunately, I am tuned to always search out the worst case scenarios.

If the questions was about people the answer is easy, my family and friends make me happy. But when I am on my own there are few things that can bring a smile to my face-

  1. Writing – Always close to my heart. My venting option when I have no shoulders to rely on. My most cherished companion, the keeper of my darkest secrets.
  2. Drawing – Stress buster. No matter whatever the situation when I need to calm myself down all I need is a pencil and paper and the world just slows down.
  3. Singing- Well, music makes most people happy. I don’t really think this needs an explanation.
  4. Reading – The gateway to the worlds of imaginations. The world of books are so fascinating. Anything is possible and I think even today even after I am an adult I still believe in the possibility of magic because of the many books I have read.
  5. My stationery collection – As an avid stationary collector, seeing the different items I have collected over the years definitely makes me happy.

Useful Skills

Growing up, I always try to contemplate the purpose of all the subjects we had in school. I ended up concluding that there was no real purpose.

However, each class did teach me something. Languages taught me how to communicate, Sciences taught me how things work, Maths taught me how to… well… add up things. I could go on about it.

However, leaving the typical subject we learn in the classroom. There was something called skills classes that we were taught. In that class, we were taught how to how to attend/take interviews, give presentations, dress up formally, dinner etiquettes and believe or not make up!

At the time it was taught I found it to be boring, but now that I am actually working, It really makes me realize how small things can make a huge impact!

Exercise of the Mind

Given that I am generally a very lazy person, I do not do much of physical exercise.

The one thing I love doing is exercising my mind! I love learning new things! Learning something new always makes me happy and excited. Now, let’s be completely honest, the excitement is there in the initial days and usually tappers down after that, but nonetheless, I prefer it to exercising!

Whenever I do exercise, I prefer to dance. And no, I am not a good dancer. I wish I were but I am not. I did go for dance classes for 6 years but all I can do is be a background dancer. I have no sort of aura a dancer should have. On the other hand, using it as a means to add some sort of activity in my life seems like a good option.

Harry Potter

I think the Harry Potter books was an unexpected series. It opened people to a world of magic! I mean the concept of a school of magic, a parallel world existing where magic exists, I especially love how they intertwined the “normie” world with the magical world. It is truly amazing!

As a child, the world of imagination just got a whole lot bigger. And I am aware there were more amazing magical books that were published over the years. But the Harry Potter series will always hold a special place in my heart and yes, whenever I get a chance, I dive right back into the magical world of Hogwarts.

Merlin

Okay let’s be real! I did not read the book I instead watched the TV series.

I totally loved the way the actor has portrayed the character of Merlin. I loved the love hate relationship between him and the character King Arthur. But more importantly, I love Merlin’s journey to discover his Magic.

Merlin is stated to be the greatest magician of all time. Just imagine! To be so powerful! To be able to make everything in the world better. Hmm.. come to think of it I would not like being the one with the ultimate power. I mean, it is said that power corrupts and I think I would easily go to the dark side.

If I could be Merlin without falling prey to the dark side of the magic that would be the character I want to be.

Dog vs. Python

I am a dog person hands down! They are the best kind of companion. My dog always makes my day better. He is a crazy pup on usual days but when I am sad, he quietly crawls into my lap and looks up at my face. I mean I don’t show love like other dog owners do. No fancy spa, or special attention but no matter what, he wags his tail when he sees me like I am the best person in the world.

On the flip side, I am terrified and disgusted of snakes. I very effectively avoid the snake display at zoos cause I just cannot imagine seeing them. Pretty obvious with my current feeling any sort of snake as a pet would be my worst nightmare! Kudos to the people who can even learn to love a snake unfortunately, I don’t think I will ever have the courage they have!
