Day 24 and 25: Christmas is in the Air

The past two days were good! Exhausting like hell but amazing.

Yesterday I made Chocolate chip cookies. I love making them more than eating them. Is it just me or does food taste better when someone else cooks it for you? What made the baking process even better were my nephews. They were so fascinated by the whole process. Whisking the eggs, measuring out the flour was all a game to them. By the time the dough was prepped there was flour everywhere! I do not know if the cookies were a baker’s perfection but seeing my nephews hand in the cookie jar was satisfaction enough.

Today I made the traditional Christmas Plum cake. I used to remember my mom baking them but ever since we got the new oven it seems the baking falls back to me. The folding in of the batter nearly took me out. I had to keep walking around because I kept misplacing the ingredients. Even though I sat through most of the process. I saw my ankle injury swelling and with that the pain also started getting worse. But determination can really push you. I finally mixed up the batter and five hours later we had three baked plum cakes. After then baking when I finally did take the rest I realized that the pains were all much worse. I took a pain pill and was knocked out for 2 hours.

The medicine and the rest did what it was supposed to I woke up an started with my washi tape organizing.

All in all these past two days I felt more like myself than I have in months.

Wishing you all a Blessed Christmas! May the Grace and Mercy of he Lord Jesus Christ fill your life always!

Collection of Collections

Daily writing prompt
Do you have any collections?

I love collecting stuff. Over my lifetime I have had various collections.

I used to collect tiny shells whenever we visited the beach. I used to collect flower petals and dry them out. I used to collect recipes that I hoped to make one day. I used to collect old tattered notes from different countries.

Though I have given up collecting almost all of the things that I used to in my childhood I do still collect items.

I have continued my collection of stationery. Over the years I think it has almost converted to a sort of addiction. I still collect coins and notes. My collection of recipes has changed to an electronic format. I still love collecting cute hair clips though some might not consider it age appropriate. My collection of accessories has been reduced, I chose to get rid of the chains and keep only the pendants.

I think I would always have the instinct to collect items when my interest sparks in it. And I also am aware that when time passes as my interest changes so will my collections.

Brewing Recipes

I really love watching cooking shows and food shows on TV. I enjoy listening to the innovative food recipes the people on these shows come up with. However, I do not have a good taste palate.

I may not understand the different taste profiles but I love cooking food though. I think prefer cooking anything non-vegetarian. I love trying new recipes and making food that my wants.

But the meal that I love making the most is “Fried chicken”. It’s what Minny Jackson said on The Help – “Frying chicken make you tend to feel better about life”.

It took time.. trying many recipes from online. To finally figure out the recipes that made the chicken skin crispy while being cooked all the way through and mostly importantly without it getting it burnt.

With the fried chicken I also love to make potato cheese balls and toasted garlic bread. The combination it just heavenly. It’s my description of comfort food. And when I make them everyone in the family eats them with relish. The family that usually runs in different directions when it comes to favorite cuisine always comes together to enjoy it.

I also love baking. I bake cookies, cakes, biscuits anything with chocolate in it. Yet again, though I love only dark chocolate I love making chocolate goodies for my nephews.

Hopefully, in the future I can learn to appreciate all kinds of cuisine and also learn to make it.
